Are your lights connected?

So the other day, my friend looked at my car and laughed. "Your car gets more shleppy by the day; you only have one headlight working," she said.
It's true... hard to admit, but my darling Jeep is about to retire. But I kept driving like that for another few days, to be honest, until... some more friends stopped me as we were leaving the kibbutz Tanya chill. "Yo, your light's out, go fix it before you get stopped by a cop."
Fine, good point. I got these super bright lights for off-roading—which is the only way to get to the farm anyways... as if that's a good excuse. But it's time to deal with this, so off to the gas station I went in the middle of the night. I asked the tired cashier for lightbulbs and then realized I didn't know what I needed. So back to the car—pop the hood and start digging around for the headlights. Something didn't look right, so I turned on my flashlight. That's weird, something is disconnected here.
Omg, is the light just not connected? So I started shtupping it back in, and it's still not working. A sweet Bedouin dude popped his head around the hood to help and assisted with the process. With a little help from the friends, we got it in and all started whooping and laughing when the light went back on. Made my night.
I couldn't stop laughing the whole way home... getting to my point now, I promise. How many times do we think we are broken without checking if the light's connected at all? What's our light, you ask? We all have different things that light us up... Basic food and water is a good place to start. Sleep? Art? Did you dance? Move your body? Breathe deeply? What lights you up? Is your toolbox open?
For years I believed my car was totally teaching me about life. Everything does, really.
This lesson is really sticking with me right now though. How important it is to check if we are all plugged in before we ju

mp to conclusions about ourselves, abilities and purpose.
